Forward Deployed Engineer (GTM)
At Sakana AI, we are advancing world-class R&D through unique generative AI techniques inspired by nature. Our GTM Team is on a mission to bring the AI products born from this research to market and deliver their value to enterprises and government agencies in Japan and globally, through our proprietary products including Sakana Marlin, Sakana Namazu, and Sakana Fugu.
This position is one of the founding members of the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) function within the GTM team. We take a product-driven approach to GTM, and the FDE is the engineer who makes the product succeed inside each customer: understanding their business, systems, and constraints, designing the integration, and carrying the deployment from PoC through production, adoption, and company-wide expansion. FDEs are engineers who see, at the code level, how the product is actually used in the field and where it hits technical walls. You will structure the product-side gaps and improvement opportunities you uncover, share them with the product team, and contribute directly to the product codebase, so that every deployment advances the product itself.
Responsibilities
- Own the deployment of Sakana AI’s products into enterprise environments: understand the customer’s business and systems, design the integration architecture, and implement connections to existing systems, data sources, and identity infrastructure
- Lead PoCs and drive them to production; resolve security, compliance, and IT-review requirements together with the customer’s IT and security teams
- Configure, tune, and extend the product for each customer’s workflows, including building surrounding tools and workflows on top of our APIs and establishing evaluation and quality-improvement loops
- Drive adoption and prove value: discover and prioritize use cases, define success metrics with the customer, measure impact from usage data, and build internal champions through training and enablement
- Lead expansion: plan and execute rollouts from the first use case to adjacent departments and company-wide deployment, and lead the technical side of expansion proposals in partnership with Product Sales
- Contribute directly to the product codebase: reproduce and fix issues found in the field, and design and implement standard product features that address needs common across the market
- Structure customer requirements, blockers, and missing capabilities into prioritized roadmap proposals, and participate in roadmap and design discussions with Product Managers and engineers
- Build reusable assets such as integration templates, reference implementations, and deployment playbooks so that each new deployment is faster than the last
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in a production environment, including API design and implementation, testing, and code review as part of a team
- Experience leading technical scoping and decision-making directly with customers (e.g., as an FDE, solutions engineer, sales engineer, or tech lead on client-facing projects)
- Experience deploying and integrating systems into enterprise environments, including authentication, data integration, and security-review requirements
- Experience building or deploying applications that use LLMs and generative AI
- Ability to define scope and drive execution independently in an environment without established playbooks
- Native-level Japanese (customer-facing negotiation)
- Business-level English (Preferred)
- Experience as an FDE, solutions engineer, or customer engineer at an AI or SaaS product company (Preferred)
- Track record of leading a customer from PoC to production, company-wide rollout, and expanded usage or contract (Preferred)
- Experience contributing continuously to a product codebase as a member of a product engineering team (Preferred)
- Experience building RAG, AI agents, or evaluation pipelines (Preferred)

本ポジションは、GTMチームにおける FDE の初期メンバーです。私たちはプロダクトドリブンに GTM を進めており、FDE はプロダクトを顧客の中で成功させるエンジニアです。顧客の業務・システム・制約条件を理解したうえで導入設計とインテグレーションを行い、PoCから本番運用、利用の定着、部門横断・全社への展開までを一貫して担います。FDEは、現場での導入・運用を通じて、プロダクトが実際にどう使われ、技術的にどこで壁に当たるかをコードレベルで把握できるエンジニアです。プロダクト側の課題や改善点を構造化してプロダクトチームに共有するとともに、自らプロダクト本体のコードに貢献し、一つひとつの導入をプロダクトの進化につなげていきます。
役割と責任
- Sakana AIのプロダクトのエンタープライズ環境への導入を主導する。顧客の業務・システムを理解し、導入アーキテクチャを設計し、既存システム・データソース・認証基盤との連携を実装する。
- PoCを設計・実行し、本番移行まで推進する。セキュリティ・コンプライアンス要件や情報システム部門の審査を、顧客のIT・セキュリティ部門と協働して解消する。
- 顧客の業務に合わせてプロダクトを設定・チューニング・拡張する。APIを活用した周辺ツールやワークフローを構築し、出力品質の評価・改善サイクルを確立する。
- 活用の定着と価値の実証を牽引する。ユースケースの発掘と優先順位付け、成功指標の合意、利用データに基づく効果測定を行い、トレーニングを通じて顧客内のチャンピオンを育成する。
- 拡販を主導する。最初のユースケースを起点に隣接部門・全社展開への計画を策定・実行し、プロダクトセールスと連携して拡販提案の技術面をリードする。
- プロダクト本体のコードに貢献する。現場で発見した不具合の再現・修正に加え、市場に共通するニーズをプロダクトの機能として設計・実装する。
- 顧客の要望・障壁・不足機能を構造化し、優先度付きのロードマップ提案としてまとめ、Product Managerや開発エンジニアとのロードマップ議論・設計レビューに参加する。
- インテグレーションテンプレート、リファレンス実装、導入プレイブックなどの再利用可能なアセットを整備し、次の導入を前回より速くする。

- プロダクション環境でのソフトウェアエンジニアとしての実務経験 3年以上（API設計・実装、テスト、コードレビューを含むチーム開発）
- 顧客対面で技術的な課題整理・意思決定をリードした経験（FDE、ソリューションエンジニア、セールスエンジニア、顧客向けプロジェクトのテックリード等）
- エンタープライズ環境へのシステム導入・インテグレーション経験（認証、データ連携、セキュリティ審査対応等）
- LLM・生成AIを活用したアプリケーションの開発または導入の経験
- 型のない環境で自らスコープを定義し、実行を進められる高い自律性
- 日本語：ネイティブレベル（顧客との業務折衝が発生）
- 英語：ビジネスレベル（あれば尚可）
- AI・SaaSプロダクト企業でのFDE、ソリューションエンジニア、カスタマーエンジニアの経験（あれば尚可）
