To advance our mission, we are seeking a Product Designer.
A Product Designer at Sakana AI is not someone who simply follows established SaaS best practices or merely makes screens look beautiful. You will work at the frontier of AI product design, where standardized design patterns have yet to solidify, and explore how people come to understand and trust AI, and when they choose to delegate to it or intervene. In an era where AI no longer just responds to users but explores, proposes, and collaborates, you will craft answers to the question of how products should behave, drawing on the intersection of research, technology, business, and design, and lead Sakana AI’s design culture.
Role and Responsibilities
- Reframe what AI means for society, people, organizations, and work, and shape the vision for product experiences unique to Sakana AI
- Design AI-native experiences by building interaction patterns that account for AI’s non-determinism, uncertainty, failure, explainability, user oversight, and trust-building
- Rapidly validate design hypotheses through user interviews, usability testing, and prototype validation.
- Lead end-to-end from product concept design, experience design, UI design, prototyping, implementation review, to branding and communication design.
- Collaborate with ARE, SWE, PdM, and researchers to find the intersection of technical feasibility and user value, and make decisions on product direction.
- Establish and maintain design systems, UI patterns, AI interaction patterns, and component design across multiple products.
- Leverage prototyping tools, design tools, and coding tools to create verifiable prototypes that go beyond static mockups.
- Lead Sakana AI’s design culture by running design and prototype reviews, sharing research, and collaborating with external designers.
Requirements and Skills
Must-haves
- 5+ years of practical experience as a Product Designer or similar role in software products.
- Experience leading design end-to-end, from product concept design through delivery to post-release improvement.
- Product development experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders such as PdMs, engineers, researchers, business development, and customers.
- Experience improving experiential value by leveraging user research, usability testing, business understanding, and qualitative and quantitative insights.
- High craft skills in experience design, information architecture, prototyping, design specification creation, interaction design, visual design, and design system construction/operation.
- Strong communication skills to perform in a global team, with a high level of proficiency in both Japanese and English.
- Ability to structure ambiguous and complex challenges and articulate and visualize them in a way that enables the team to make decisions.
- Passion for building products with global reach at Sakana AI.
Nice-to-haves
- Design experience in complex domains such as B2B SaaS, business systems, finance, public sector, defense, manufacturing, healthcare, and research tools.
- Deep involvement in 0-to-1 product launches, PMF exploration, and new business development.
- Experience building a design system from scratch or rolling it out across multiple products.
- Experience in rapid prototyping using vibe coding, Claude Code, Cursor, v0, Framer, and similar tools.
- Experience directing external designers, production companies, and outsourced members.
- Understanding of frontend implementation.
- Experience leading design teams, mentoring, hiring, and building a design review culture.

Sakana AIのProduct Designerは、すでに確立されたSaaSのベストプラクティスをなぞるだけでも、画面を美しく整えるだけの役割ではありません。
まだ世界的にもデザインパターンが固まっていないAIプロダクトの領域に向き合い、ユーザーがAIをどう理解し、どこで信頼し、どこで疑い、どこで介入し、どこで任せるのか。
AIが「答える」だけでなく、人と共に探索し、提案し、作業し、協働する時代に、プロダクトはどう振る舞うべきか。
その問いに、研究・技術・事業・デザインの交差点から答えをつくっていき、Sakana AIのデザインカルチャーを牽引するポジションです。
役割と責任
- AIが社会、人間、組織、仕事にもたらす意味を捉え直し、Sakana AIならではのプロダクト体験のビジョンを構想する
- AIの非決定性、不確実性、失敗、説明可能性、ユーザーによる監督、信頼形成を前提としたインタラクションパターンを構築しAI-nativeな体験を設計する
- ユーザーインタビュー、ユーザビリティテスト、プロトタイプ検証を通じて、デザイン仮説を素早く検証する
- プロダクトのコンセプト設計、体験設計、UI設計、プロトタイプ、実装レビュー、ブランディングやコミュニケーションデザインまで一気通貫でリードする
- ARE、SWE、PdM、リサーチャーと協働し、技術的可能性とユーザー価値の接点を見つけ、プロダクトの方向性の意思決定をする
- 複数プロダクトを横断するデザインシステム、UIパターン、AI interaction pattern、コンポーネント設計を確立・維持する
- プロトタイピングツール、デザインツール、コーディングツールを活用し、静的なモックに留まらない検証可能なプロトタイプを作る
- デザイン・プロトタイプレビュー、リサーチ共有、外部デザイナーとの協業を通じて、Sakana AIのデザインカルチャーを牽引する
応募資格およびスキル
必須要件
- ソフトウェアプロダクトにおけるProduct Designerまたは類似職種での実務経験5年以上
- プロダクトのコンセプト設計からデリバリー、リリース後の改善まで、一気通貫でデザインをリードした経験
- PdM、エンジニア、リサーチャー、事業開発、顧客など、複数のステークホルダーと協働したプロダクト開発経験
- ユーザーリサーチ、ユーザビリティテスト、業務理解、定性・定量インサイトを活用して体験価値を向上させた経験
- 高品質な体験設計、情報設計、プロトタイピング、デザイン仕様作成、インタラクションデザイン、ビジュアルデザイン、デザインシステム構築/運用など高いクラフト力
- 日本語と英語を高いレベルで使いこなし、グローバルなチームで成果を出すことができる高いコミュニケーション能力
- 曖昧で複雑な課題を構造化し、チームが意思決定できる形に言語化・可視化できる能力
