Sakana AIは本日、「Sakana Marlin」に2つの機能を追加しました。
- Interactive Reading：レポート上の記述を、その場で裏取り・深掘りできる読み方
- PowerPointスライド出力：調査結果を編集し、報告に活用する
いずれも、Sakana Marlinが生み出した数十ページのアウトプットを、読み手が深く理解し、より良い意思決定につなげるための機能です。
Sakana Marlinのコンセプト
今年6月に公開した「Sakana Marlin」のコンセプトは、「リサーチはAIへ。人間は意思決定に集中する。」です。独自技術AB-MCTSを活用した最大8時間に及ぶリサーチで、仮説設定から情報収集、調査結果のレポート化までを、AIが自律的に行います。
開発の背景には、生成AIの登場以降、社会の変化が著しく速くなり、私たちが処理する必要のある情報の量は、日夜増大し続けているという認識があります。そこでSakana Marlinは、公開情報の中から本当に必要な情報を的確かつ効率的に収集し、可読性の高い文書やスライド資料にまとめることで、人々が良質な意思決定に集中できるようにすることを目指してきました。
実際、リリース以降は大手企業、スタートアップ、コンサルティングファーム、金融機関、大学・研究機関など、多様な組織にて利用いただき、その調査業務をサポートしてきました。
さらに人間が意思決定に集中するために
一方で、Sakana Marlinを実際の業務で使っていただくなかで、私たちはリリース時に想定していなかった新たな課題に向き合うことになりました。それは、調査結果を私たち人間が読み解き、内容の確からしさを判定し、その主張に納得するという、「理解」のプロセスにおけるボトルネックです。
例えば、ユーザーの皆様から以下のようなフィードバックをいただきました。
- 情報の網羅性は評価できるが、数十ページもの調査報告を読み解くのが大変で、結局調査業務に費やしている時間があまり減っていない
- 人間の成果物をレビューするときのように、出典まで遡って主張の確からしさを確認したいが、AIが何を根拠にどう解釈したのか質問できない
- 社内で共有・報告する際には、レポートを修正したり自分の解釈や理解を反映したいが、そうしたインタラクティブな機能が不足している
ここから見えてきたのは、調査にかかる時間や労力をどれだけAIで効率化できても、意思決定の手前で私たち自身がその内容を「理解し」「確かめ」「伝える」というプロセスが、依然としてボトルネックになり続けるということです。
今回のSakana Marlinのアップデートは、この「理解する」「確かめる」「伝える」プロセスにもAIの力を活かし、意思決定の全プロセスを一気通貫で支援することを目指すものです。
1. Interactive Reading：読み、問い、確かめる
AIが生成したレポートを使うとき、ユーザーである私たちに求められるのは、レポートの主張が基づく情報源を確認し、その内容を理解することです。しかし、すべてを自分でチェックするのであれば、AIにリサーチを任せた意味はありません。かといってまったく確認せずに受け入れるのでは、自分の判断にはなりません。
Sakana Marlinの新機能「Interactive Reading」は、この二者択一を解消するものです。ユーザーは出力されたレポートについて、チャット形式でエージェントと議論したり、質問することができます。レポートの当該箇所へ飛ぶことができるため、上からレポートを読むだけではなく、気になる部分にフォーカスできます。

また、レポート内の引用をクリックすると、AIエージェントが出典を開き、記述の根拠となる箇所を提示します。これまでは、出典先のページから該当箇所を探すのはユーザーが行う必要がありましたが、新しいSakana Marlinではその作業をAIが支援します。

Interactive Readingは、レポートを「ただ読む」のではなく、「エージェントとの対話を通じて必要なところに深く潜る」新しい読み方です。エージェントとともに探索し、問い直しながら読むことによって、AI生成のレポートを自分の理解に変えることができます。人の意思決定の質は、こうした「情報から理解への変換」に支えられていると私たちは考えています。
2. PowerPointスライド出力：調査結果を編集し、自分の考えとして提示する
二つ目のアップデートは、編集可能なPowerPointファイルへの出力機能です。Sakana Marlinの調査結果をスライド出力し、文章や図形に加え、表やグラフのデータ・書式も変更できます。また、各スライドには出典のURLも記載され、スライドから出典を確認することもできます。
編集可能なスライド形式での出力により、より自由度高く調査結果に利用者自身の解釈や論点を加え、社内での共有やクライアントへの報告に活用できます。

PowerPoint出力では、任意のスライドテンプレートに対応しています。社内やクライアント指定のテンプレートを使うことで、出力後に体裁を整える手間を減らせます。

調査結果のどこに着目し、その中から何を選んで伝えるか。そして、それをどんな議論につなげるか。この工程には、利用者自身の経験や問題意識が表れます。Sakana Marlinのスライド出力は、AIによるレポート生成の先にある対話や意思決定までをサポートする機能です。
AIとともに理解し、意思決定する未来へ
今回の二つのアップデートを通じて目指すのは、Sakana Marlinのコンセプト「リサーチはAIへ。人間は意思決定に集中する。」をもう一段進歩させることです。信頼できるレポートを出力するだけでなく、その内容を人が辿り、確かめ、納得したうえで判断する。AIを優秀なブラックボックスとして使うのではなく、ともに考え、理解し、意思決定を行っていく。人だけでもAIだけでもできない高度な意思決定を実現したい。こうした人とAIの双方向の関係を、私たちは「attunement（調和）」と呼んでいます。今回のSakana Marlinのアップデートは、その一歩になるものです。Sakana AIのプロダクトは、今後も人とAIが調和し、高度な意思決定ができる世界を目指していきます。

Sakana Marlin Update: Interactive Reading, plus PowerPoint Export
Today Sakana AI is adding two new features to Sakana Marlin:
- Interactive Reading: a new way to read a report, where you can check the evidence behind any statement and dig deeper without leaving the page
- PowerPoint slide export: edit your findings and put them to work in your own template
Both features exist for the same reason: to help readers genuinely understand the dozens of pages Marlin produces, and turn that understanding into better decisions.
The Idea Behind Sakana Marlin
When we launched Sakana Marlin in June, we described it in a single line: leave the research to AI, so people can focus on the decision making. Powered by our own AB-MCTS technology, Marlin runs research sessions of up to eight hours, working autonomously from framing a hypothesis through gathering information to writing up the findings as a report.
The thinking behind it was simple. Since generative AI arrived, the world has been changing faster, and the volume of information any of us has to process keeps growing by the day. Marlin was built to find what actually matters within the vast body of public information, gather it accurately and efficiently, and present it as documents and slides that are genuinely readable, so that people can put their attention where it counts: on making good decisions.
Since launch, Marlin has supported research work at a wide range of organizations, including large enterprises, startups, consulting firms, financial institutions, universities and research institutes.
Going One Step Further
From the feedback of our beta testers, we ran into a problem we had not initially anticipated. The bottleneck had moved. It now sits in the process of understanding: reading the findings, judging how sound they are, and arriving at a point where you actually believe the conclusion.
Some of the feedback we heard:
- “The coverage is impressive, but working through dozens of pages of findings is hard going, and in the end I am not spending much less time on research than before.”
- “When I review work by a colleague, I trace claims back to the source. I want to do the same here, but I have no way to ask the AI what a given interpretation was based on.”
- “Before I share or present this internally, I want to revise the report and fold in my own reading of it, and the tools to do that interactively are missing.”
What this tells us is that however much AI compresses the time and effort of research itself, the steps that come just before a decision, where we understand the material, confirm it, and communicate it to others, remain a bottleneck.
This update is about bringing AI to those steps too, so that Marlin supports the whole arc of a decision rather than just the research at the front of it.
1. Interactive Reading: Read It, Question It, Confirm It
When you work from an AI-generated report, part of the job is checking the sources a claim rests on and understanding what they say. But if you have to verify everything yourself, there was little point handing the research to AI in the first place. And if you accept it all without checking anything, the judgment you reach is not really yours.
Interactive Reading is built to remove that trade-off. You can now discuss the report with the agent in a chat, asking questions as they come up. The agent can take you straight to the relevant part of the report, so instead of reading from the top, you can zero in on whatever you want to dig into.
New feature: Interactive Reading
Click a citation inside the report and the AI agent opens the source and points you to the specific passage the statement rests on. Finding that passage on the source page used to be your job. In the new Marlin, the AI does the legwork with you.

Interactive Reading is a different way of reading: not simply working through a report, but diving into the parts that matter through a conversation with the agent. Exploring alongside the agent and questioning as you go is what turns an AI-generated report into your own understanding. We believe the quality of human decisions rests on exactly this conversion, from information into understanding.
2. PowerPoint Export: Edit the Findings and Present Them as Your Own Thinking
The second update is export to editable PowerPoint files. You can now output Marlin’s findings as slides and change the text, the shapes, and the data and formatting of tables and charts. Every slide also carries the source URLs, so the evidence is one click away from the deck itself.
Because the output is a slide format you can actually edit, you have far more freedom to layer your own interpretation and your own questions onto the findings, whether you are sharing them internally or presenting to a client.

PowerPoint export works with any slide template, so using your company’s template or one specified by a client cuts out most of the tidying up that would otherwise follow export.

Which parts of the findings you focus on, what you select from them to pass on, and what discussion you steer that into: this is where your own experience and judgment show. Slide export is there to support the conversation and the decision that comes after the report, not just the report itself.
Toward a Future Where We Understand, and Decide, with AI
With these two updates, we want to push Marlin’s original idea, leave the research to AI so people can focus on the decision, one step further. It is not enough to produce a report you can trust. You should be able to follow it, confirm it, and be genuinely convinced before you judge. Rather than treating AI as a capable black box, we want people to think, understand and decide together with it, reaching decisions that neither people nor AI could reach alone. We call this two-way relationship between people and AI “attunement.” This update is a step toward it.
